Farther Foundation is pleased to announce that Angelicca Telles has joined its board of directors.
Angelicca herself was a recipient of a Farther Foundation grant as a high school student in 2010 when she was referred to Farther Foundation by one of its partner organizations, HighSight.
The summer before her senior year of high school, Angelicca traveled to Thailand with American Field Service (AFS) and stayed with a host family while also doing community service in a hospital. After attending high school at St. Ignatius College Prep, she decided to leave the cold winters of Chicago for Pomona College in Southern California. At Pomona, she majored in Gender & Women's Studies and History. During her junior year, she studied abroad in Rabat, Morocco. Through her time abroad and at Pomona, Angelicca has recognized the importance of having choices. As she embarks upon her career and her service on the board of Farther Foundation, Angelicca hopes to help create pathways for young women and men to have more choices and recognize their potential.
“Farther Foundation has been operating for more than seven years now,” states its founder, David Weindling, “and we are beginning to see our alumni from the early years buck the trends by graduating college and moving into careers at rates far exceeding their peers. Angelicca is an example of the growth and maturation of our alumni and our organization. We are excited to have her join or board.”
