University of Wisconsin-Madison

The University of Wisconsin-Madison offers many residential summer programs for high school students, including programs focused on science and engineering.The Summer Science Institute is a free 6-week experience in which students gain an understanding of biological/physical research while learning about college life. Students are paired up and mentored on a specific research project that entails in-depth, hand-on research conducted by the students.

The Engineering Summer Program is a free six-week residential program that targets students interested in learning more about the field of engineering. Participants take college-level courses, go on industry field trips, live in the dorms, and, of course, have lots of fun. Students explore career options, prepare for the rigors of college, and develop strong math, science, and communication skills.
