Why Choate Summer Programs?

An innovative curriculum, with new offerings created each year and existing courses regularly updated, gives students a variety of fresh options with which to build an exciting summer of learning.

Structured independence means that, on a daily basis, students combine classes for five-six of the eight daily periods with one period set aside to work one-on-one with their teachers.

Class sizes are small, ranging from 8 to 14 students per class.

The experienced summer faculty includes the regular-year Choate faculty, augmented by excellent teachers from independent and public secondary schools, colleges, and universities.

When a program is approved by a student's home school, course credit may be received for work in the program.

With over $300,000 available for need-based aid, we are able to offer this unique education experience to students who would not otherwise be able to attend.

Global friendships are made each summer between the approximately 500 students in attendance, representing 35 countries and 29 states.

Our campus is in an ideal location, midway between Boston and New York, in a small, safe New England town.  Nearby beaches, historic sites, and college campuses, are all available for weekend trips.

Participating in Choate Summer Programs allows you to:

  • meet your peers from 35+ states and 29 countries, an opportunity you may never have again
  • try out the idea of a boarding school
  • experience the special environment that is Choate
  • seek intensive study in a favorite subject
  • explore a new area of interest
  • build on skills in preparation for college

If you are a foreign student this may be the first time you have been abroad without the company of family members. Not only can you practice your English this summer, you'll find immersion into American culture to be an exhilarating experience.

Studying abroad in China, France or Spain provides the same language and cultural growth for American students.

Regardless of your objective, Choate Summer Programs will give you a stimulating and challenging learning experience, a safe environment in beautiful New England, unparalleled teachers, and a student body that defines diversity.
