Now, in the face of today's most pressing environmental emergencies—climate change, declining ocean health, unsustainable resource management, and threatened cultures—Earthwatch is mobilizing like never before. Bringing together an inclusive community of scientists, corporate and non-profit partners, teachers, students, and everyday citizens, Earthwatch is finding creative ways to respond to the defining moment of our generation. Explore what we're all about and find out what you can do to change the world. Yourself.

Earthwatch is an international environmental charity which is committed to conserving the diversity and integrity of life on earth to meet the needs of current and future generations. We work with a wide range of partners, from individuals who work as conservation volunteers on research teams through to corporate partners, governments and institutions.

Earthwatch has a global reach, with offices in Oxford (UK), Boston (USA), Melbourne (Australia) and Tokyo (Japan).

Earthwatch Institute (Europe) is the working name for Conservation Education & Research Trust (CERT), a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales.

Our Values

The way we work, and our approach to engaging individuals and organisations in our activities is just as important as the research and education programmes we carry out in order to deliver our mission . Our values define this approach, and set us apart from other organisations.

Our approach is reasoned, based on independent, scientific data.

We aim to engage all sectors of society, bringing together diverse cultures, nationalities and institutions.

We address important environmental issues that affect people and the environment.

We give people the opportunity to make a difference to their environment.

Our work, support and goals are long-term. We want to make a lasting difference to the environment and communities worldwide.

Earthwatch Learning

Earthwatch is passionate about engaging different educational audiences in field research and experiential learning but we acknowledge that different groups learn in different ways. Providing opportunities for educators and young people to get involved with our in-field conservation research work is of great importance to us.

Through specific programmes which provide these individuals with funded places, we are able to meet their particular learning and developmental needs. This hands on learning supported by our growing library of learning resources, can help young people and educators to become environmental stewards and leaders within their schools, institutions and communities.
